Sport Nationals

Postby Dreadnought » April 12th, 2017, 3:59 pm

The entry form for the Sport Nationals at Yaverland can be downloaded here: http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/even ... m_2017.pdf

North Devon Yacht Club are threatening to bring 13 boats. We need double that from Shanklin as the bare minimum.

The event is across 3 days starting Friday 19th May. There are two discards so if you can't make the Friday you can still have enough results to count.

Maybe people don't like racing against the two National Champions.

Oh hang on...

I will pop my entry in Erling's door this morning, under duress.

    1) I don't like 2 sails
    2) Need to know if the conditions are OK for old people.
    3) Last time I raced at Yaverland I had to have bow's replaced on my boat.

Erling and I are looking into a eight-high stacking system for those Shanklin boats not entered in the Sport Nationals.

Get your entry in now if you don't want to have your boat buried in the corner.

    All welcome.

Change of plan. Culver Haven Inn will be Thursday night. There will be a barbecue at Yaverland on the Friday night.

Going for a cruise to St Helens on Thursday. Leaving the beach at Yaverland at 2.30pm so I would say leave Shanklin at about 2.

Buoys are ready to go to Yaverland.
Keith is getting the flags ready.
We are looking to transport them via car on Thursday afternoon.
Need the safety boat taking down at some stage and making sure there is enough fuel. There is some left in the fuel can that I took off the small rib.

    There is plenty of fuel.

We just need somebody to volunteer to drive it.

I'm unable to make the cruise to St. Helen's as I have commitments Thursday afternoon but will join you for the trip to Yeverland at 2pm because I'm too scared to sail there on my own later ....

Is the plan to strap our trolleys and boat covers to boats to get them there ?

We could do with somebody to man the zap cat on Saturday. No qualification necessary.

You may have to share it with an estate agent but it's only for 3 hours.

Workmate and Big Hammer that always works.

Well done to Paul for retaining the Sport National Championship.

Also well done to Sophia and Sean for coming third which must be the best placed two up team in the history of the event.

It was a fantastic event with perfect weather, if a bit strong at times. Many thanks to all who helped on and off the water and to those that took part.

A special mention should go to Keith for services to the fashion industry.
