Sail floats

I tried out the first of the sail floats on Friday and it was a complete success. I capsized and was able to stand on the mast head and still not invert the boat. There was no noticeable loss in performance on any point of sail.

Unless you are very confident that you can right an inverted catamaran unaided you should get the floats added to the top of your sail before the start of the season.

The floats can be removed by untying string.

They are class legal at Shanklin.

So far we have Frank's and Craig's boats with sail floats.

Don't leave it to the last minute. The sail makers are likely to be in a rush in March so get your sails over to Sailcare as soon as you can.

The sail floats have been tested twice today in a real life situation and performed exactly as intended.

Sailcare have a new batch of foam for sail floats.

I have been using a float in a couple of races and when cruising. They don't slow you down and they could save embarrassment.
