Sunday Cadets 2014

Postby simongiles » April 14th, 2014, 8:25 am

Hi Cadets

This is where I will post any changes to the sessions. Might be worth getting into the habit of looking here on a Saturday evening.

Please remember to sign in for each session on the yellow form in the club house.

Thanks

Cadets 27/4/14 Cancelled

Postby simongiles » April 26th, 2014, 3:27 pm

:(

Forecast for tomorrow - cold, raining, easterly - onshore F4-5 wind, 5ft waves, high tide at 11am. :o

There is only so much theory you can do without actually going sailing!

Sorry. Next week the session will be run by Liam and Brandon and will start at midday. Henry and I are in Carnac.

Forecast currently looks fine for the first cadet session of 2014 that actually involves some water.

Cadets are very welcome to race in the Odds and Ends Series at 10.10 in the club Picos and the Fox 2 Up as crew on a catamaran.

As soon as the racing is over we will make a start on the water.

Hope to see a good turn out.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Due to the rowing regatta we cannot hold Cadets this Sunday - There is however a Dart race you may wish to join in with.

Weather looks good for Cadets this Sunday.

I am away (yes a pattern is emerging!) so Liam will be running it. There is the Odds and Ends race starting at 10am (so you need to be down by 9am to give time to rig and launch by 9.45).

Otherwise come down at 11am get a boat out and get changed and cadets will start when the Darts finishing racing around Midday.

This Sunday the Cadet session will start at midday after the Dart 2up race.

If we are not off the water when you arrive, put your boat on the beach and get changed.

This Sunday there is the Odd's and Ends race at 10am and the Novice race at 11am, any cadets could compete in both races in Pico's if they want.

Cadets will start after the Novices race at about midday.

This week it will be run by Liam and therefore start after the Darts finish racing at about 12.30.

I would recommend coming down at about midday and get changed and get your boat out.

We had great fun last week with some racing and skills practice with Tom, Perry and Mason

Cadets tomorrow will be at midday after the Odds and Ends Race, ideally come and do the race, alternatively be changed and ready to launch at midday.

Conditions permitting we may go on an expedition to a secret cove !

Have you seen the weather forecast?

Also high tide at midday and big swell! Good for surfing!

I think I need to cancel today's session, it may be survivable for some but unlikely to be fun. It's mainly a strong F4 but there quite a few severe gusts F6 coming through. It looks like it may build until mid/late afternoon.

Sorry for any disappointment.

Weather forecast for Sunday looks perfect for sailing. Hope we can get a big turn out at noon for the cadet session.

Don't forget the Odds and Ends race at 10am and the Fox 2 Up at 11am. If anybody wants to take part in the Fox 2 Up but hasn't got a boat to go on please give me a call on 721264.

Cadet Regatta 7/9/14

Postby simongiles » September 5th, 2014, 10:50 am

Dear Cadets

I hope your all looking forward to the regatta this weekend. I have no idea what the weather will be like as it changes every time I look.

The format may need to be flexible but the aim is to do four 20min races, whether we have a break in the middle will depend on the conditions.

The races will be two laps around a triangular course anticlockwise (leaving the buoys to port). The start sequence will be 5mins (horn + flag one) 4mins (horn + flag one + flag two) 1min (horn + flag one) Go (horn and no flags)

I have emailed a document that summarises some basic rules, try and make sure you understand Port/Starboard rule as this is the one that causes the most damage !

The briefing will be at 1pm on the beach, by the rescue boats. The first race will be at about 1.30pm. By 1pm you should be changed with you boat rigged and near the water ready to launch. We will not wait for you.

The PY handicaps for the regatta will be Feva S 1260 Pico 1338.

Good luck!

Simon

If you want to sail on Sunday, it might be best to jump on somebody else's Sprint 15 for the racing which starts at 10am.

See viewtopic.php?f=2&t=501

But if the conditions are right, the Cadet session will start after the racing at about 12.30.

Final Cadets of the year 28/9/14

Postby simongiles » September 27th, 2014, 5:15 pm

Hopefully you will all come down and race the ladies and juniors race first thing, followed by the Odd and Ends race.

If you're still keen after all that there will be a short cadets session from 12.30ish
