Weather station

Postby Dreadnought » December 23rd, 2012, 4:10 pm

We have a weather station: http://www.shanklinsailingclub.com/weather-station.php

We haven't put it out to sea yet but we have tested its range and are very confident it is going to work out at the post to give a true reading of wind direction and strength.

You might want to bookmark http://www.weatherlink.com/user/shanklin or http://www.weatherlink.com/user/shankli ... &headers=1 on your 'phone.

Many thanks to Godshill Model Village and Channel View Hotel for contributing to the cost of the weather station.

There is a Weatherlink application available for Android devices. 'Phones for people with an artistic orientation may also be catered for.

The weather station is now fitted to the pole and is displaying data on the web site and on various mobile telephone applications.

I have stuck a weather vane on the top of every page (apart from the forum) showing latest wind conditions at Shanklin.

You may notice this is different from the data on the weather station page. This is because it is taking data via a different server which is only updated every 1/4 hour. The data on the table on the weather station page should be accurate up to the minute.

Work in progress.

Am having doubts about the maxima and minima results shown on the weather station page.

This is possibly a fault with the Davis web site that collects the data.

Fixed the highs and lows on the web site. They all look right now.

As many of you have noticed, the weather station has been off-line for a while.

I have traced the fault to the power lead and we should be up and running soon. Please ignore the force 4 SSE on the web site in the mean time.

It's missing from the top of each page, or was that what killed it.

The graph on the weather station page and the wind vane at the top of the pages have been on the blink for a couple of days. I have given them a nudge and it seems to work OK now.

Weather Underground wasn't speaking to Davis.
