New series

Postby Dreadnought » April 14th, 2014, 10:01 pm

Starting next Sunday* there will be a new race series - the Odds and Ends Series. It will be for any boat with a Portsmouth Yardstick number between 1000 and 1600.

The series is designed to give Craig and the Challenger and Mark and his RS Vision a chance to race on a regular basis. The Challenger and the Vision have similar PY numbers so it should make for a good race.

Members of the club are welcome to enter other craft including the club Picos as long as they are not being used by the cadets at that time.

The 5 minute signal for these races will be 5 minutes after the start of the first Sprint 15 race - 1005.

This is not a replacement for the Cadet Series which will go ahead informally on Sunday afternoons.

A third of results in this series will be discarded.

There may be a prize at the end of it.

* Yes I know it's not 7 days' notice. Protest forms can be found in the club house. Pedant.

Next week's Odds and Ends Race will start 10 minutes after the 2nd race of the morning at approximately 11.10am.

This is because the first race is the Fred Yelf Cup which is open to all boats. The Challenger and the monohulls can take part in the cup race and then the Odds and Ends Race.

Club members are very welcome to borrow the Picos for one or both of these races.

Fab news about the odds and ends race starting at 11 from next week. It means we will be able to make it! :) unfortunately can't make the 10am this Sunday, but will be there for the 11am the following weeks.

Please note there is no Odds and Ends race on the 22nd June as the Ventnor races take place.

Are we ok to sail down to Ventnor with you, head start needed! But not be in the race?

No problem, but you sail at your own risk.
