Push the Boat Out

Postby Dreadnought » May 21st, 2014, 5:51 pm

The interest in the Push the Boat Out day on Saturday has been terrific (mostly thanks to Liz). We could therefore do with a few more buoyancy aids to lend out.

If SSC members wouldn't mind lending them out for the day that would be most helpful.

Please could you write your name on your buoyancy aid and leave it in the sail room before Saturday.

The event starts at 11am and finishes at 4pm.

Yes, please bring the buoyancy aids. Make sure you put your name on them.

If we lend out wet suits, the second person that gets into them will not be happy.

The other thing we could do with is large aquapacks for walkie-talkies since we shouldn't be using VHF radios on the beach.

What a fantastic day. Perfect conditions for sailing and a really good turn out with more than 70 visitors trying out sailing, surfing and kiting with Sahnklin Sailing Club and Wight Water.

It didn't happen on its own of course and huge thanks go to the likes of Liz Morris who help publicise the event and organised everything on the beach. Mary's team in the galley did a fantastic job keeping everyone fed and half the club were on the water taking people out on boats and making sure we were safe.

Wight Water supplied a Dart 16 and got people out surfing and flying kites (but not at the same time as that could have been very interesting on a crowded beach).

Thanks also go to Alan, the longshoreman of Little Hope Beach who put up with all the disruption.

I have just downloaded the GPS of may day on the water - 19.9 NM over 5 hours 58 minutes.
