Aqua Adrenaline event - Sunday 1st June

Postby Dreadnought » May 12th, 2014, 11:13 am

There is an event at Yaverland Sailing and Boat Club on the 1st of June and we have been asked to take part in a race at 2 o'clock.

Please see below. More details to follow.

On Sunday, 1st June Yaverland is playing host to an exciting new water event being staged on the Island. Aqua Adrenaline is a one day event celebrating everything water related both on and beside the water. To kick-start the event our Club is hosting a party on Saturday, 31st May starting at 7.30. As well as the usual great food we are hoping to have live music and a chance to chat to old friends and make new ones. Our two clubs have forged very close ties over the last few years so we would love your members to be part of this event and show those taking part in Aqua Adrenaline just how great our two sailing clubs are.

But thats not all. We thought it would be great to put on an exhibition race on the Sunday for the public watching the event. As well as an excellent extra display for the public it would be a very good way of promoting both our clubs (and allow you to again show Yaverland how racing should look like!!). Paul thought that if we had the race at 2pm it would give you a chance to hold your normal races in the morning as usual. If you want any more details of the racing or would like to offer your help in organising it just give Paul Hales a ring on 07830673674.

If you wish to know more about the Aqua Adrenaline event you can visit their website at www.aquaadrenaline.co.uk

I look forward to seeing you all at both the party on Saturday and the racing on Sunday.

Dear Mary

This Sunday an outfit called Aqua-Adrenaline will be holding an event at Yaverland featuring a range of water based activities, including powerboats, zapcats, sandyachting & jetskis as well as sailing & kayaking. The Club is not directly involved but is letting AA use our facilities to put them on. The event takes place between 10 & 5 pm – we have no idea how it will shape up but if it meets the organisers’ expectations it has the potential to become a regular annual event.

The Club has agreed to host a pre-event party the night before, from around 7pm ish until 11 or so – there will be a BBQ (the usual hot dogs etc.) & music as well as the cash bar. It is primarily intended for the participants, whom we estimate could be around 30 or so, but Club Members & Yaverland residents are also invited, & of course any of your members who would like to join us for what we hope will be a convivial (& relatively inexpensive) social occasion will be very welcome.

We hope to see some of you there this Saturday night!

Regards
Len

Race is at 2.30pm Sunday.

Sign in at Yaverland Sailing and Boat Club.

Race is a handicap using Portsmouth Yardstick. That will be 860 Sport mode, 933 unarig or two up, not the handicaps we use at Shanklin.
