Entries are now open for the Round the Island Yacht Race.

I am now taking applications for the two crewing positions and will be sifting through the hundreds of applications I expect you to send me.

Financial inducements will be accepted.

Applicants must be under 85 and not prone to sea sickness or mutiny. They must be prepared for the strenuous physical and mental training regime leading up to the race.

May I be the first to apply for the position! I have a piece of paper saying I'm a 'competent crew' as part of the Yachtmasters scheme. But more importantly I have a valid RYA FIrst Aid certificate and a VHF licence... should we get into any trouble...
Plus a waterproof book on the RYA guide to boating knots.

The knot book is a strong positive factor. Well done.

I have a 500m swimming certificate from Junior school, RYA level 1 and 2 sailing from IWYAC, powerboat 1 and 2, and hours of hard, competitive, cut throat, banter... oops I mean sailing, at SSC. I have held high office for 4 tough, gruelling years as Commodore and once beat Art N in a race .....- I think he had a gig to go to! As an obvious choice, and following the Costa Concordia recent accident, may I challenge the experience of the Captain of this vessel? Will he show off to female passengers? Deviate from the route to wave to spectators? Drink wine with his luncheon? Be first off the sinking ship? I think we need to see his CV first!
