Ventnor Races

Postby Dreadnought » April 23rd, 2019, 3:51 pm

The Ventnor Races are due to be held this Sunday (28th April).

There will be a race to Ventnor, a race in front of Ventnor Bay and a race from Ventnor to Shanklin. There will be refreshments provided by Ventnor Sailing Club in the Spyglass.

All are welcome to come along. Please can you let me know if you are thinking of taking part, whether on the water or otherwise, so we can advise Ventnor Sailing Club of numbers for catering.

If the conditions are not suitable to go outside of Sandown Bay then there will be normal club racing with Fox 2 Up and Sprint Series races.

The usual 35 minute rule for the first mark rounding will not apply to the races to and from Ventnor.

Keith has started winding his clock ready for the event.

So far we have Ian Bolton, Tony Rose and myself.

And two safety boats.

Forecast looks really good although there may be some swell after Saturday's wind. :D

The Ventnor Races are postponed until the 28th July. There is likely to be a big swell after the gale passes through on Saturday and there is likely to be bit too much wind to go out of the bay.

There will be racing at Shanklin.

10am: Fox 2 Up
To follow: Sprint Series
