Average points for duties

Postby Dreadnought » August 25th, 2017, 9:48 am

It has been pointed out to me that the average points system we are using for people representing their club at Sprint 15 Association events is not really appropriate for people doing duties. For instance, David ended up with 29 points for helping last night.

I think we should have a different scoring system for people doing duties next year, while maintaining the system we have for those of us racing abroad.

Erling has proposed an option which involves the third derivative of sin^2 and logarithms.

Another option is going back to the old system of the average of non discarded points.

I think what might be fairest, and which might encourage people to do duties, is to follow some other clubs' practice of giving 3 points to anybody doing a duty.
Who's the more foolish; the fool or the fool who follows him?
