Sailing 3rd -5th July

Postby Dreadnought » June 30th, 2015, 6:44 pm

I am not able to help with sailing on Friday evening but if somebody would like to organise something please do not let me stand in your way.

There are two races on Sunday aimed at the back and middle of the fleet. The usual top sailors and Stuart will be there as moving targets in the first race and crew in the second if you want them.

10am Pursuit Race for Sprint 15s in unarig mode. The handicaps have been changed this time and are available at shanklinsailingclub.com/content/sailing/2010-01-21/Pursuit_start_times.php. Start will be from the beach if possible. Paul and Sean have had enough fun at the front of the fleet this weekend; try and show them your transoms for as long as possible.

11am Novice Cup for any boat helmed by a sailor who has not won a senior cup as helmsman at Shanklin in the past three years. Picos may be borrowed.

Just to avoid any confusion about the Novice Cup, winning any of the following cups does not preclude you from taking part in the Novice Cup this year.

Odds and Ends
Cadet Cup
John Foster Cup (Ventnor Novice)
Ladies' Cup
Juniors' Cup
Crews' Cup
Keith Prowse Cup (Preston Am)
W Lodge Cup (Revill Am)

Also the winner of this year's Swap Help race can take part.

You can't however win the Novice Cup and then take part again within three years.

This is slightly against what it says in the rules. You may write formally to me to complain. I shall answer the letters with due consideration on return from my sojourn.

Belated congratulations to the two winners on Sunday.

Really chuffed for the pair of you.
